Requiem for the Living.jpg

Requiem for the Living

Film Directed by: JAROSLAW GOGOLIN (Genre: poem, music video, short film)

"This film is for our dear deceased relatives and friends ...a message from them to us... to comfort us... and (maybe) it has a deeper message ... Everyone, in their own way, will receive this film and its message ... there is no single interpretation, there are as many as people in the world ... This is one interpretation from a friend of mine: "The impression I got was that it's about living on after death. What I can't decide is whether it's saying you live on in the memories of those who knew you... or you live on as a result of the body breaking down and returning to the elements and thus becoming the (kind of) compost from which new life arises so it all goes full circle... or you live on in a more literally religious/spiritual way with the soul soaring free after death. I think the film could be interpreted as saying any of those things - if not all three - or it might be a lovely memorial to someone you've lost. (I did kind of wonder if the woman in the still photos at the beginning might have been...."

Love Ishtory.jpg

Love Ishtory

Film Directed by: Veenit Katariia (Genre: Short)

"Love Ishtory is dramatical take on the casteism issue fructifying in our country. It’s a story of a young couple facing opposition on their affair. Chavi is from a brahmin family while Aakash belongs to a backward caste.
Chhavi’s father, Bhaskar Shukla, is an influential personality. His daughter’s desire to marry a lower caste boy has shaken him up. Bhaskar ordered the local inspector Dubey Ji to catch Aakash to rough him up.
It is a story of that day on which all this unfolds. Keeping the adrenaline high, the film progresses to reach a point where Chhavi’s elder brother Vicky is ready to blow Aakash’s head off.
Will this classic tale of casteism end in another honour killing?
Will the society again be a mute spectator to a horrific incident?"
